Section 244
Not to be robbed

(1) No one shall commit or cause robbery.
(2) If someone commits the following theft, he shall be deemed to have committed robbery:-
(a) To commit theft or to take stolen property or to escape arrest after stealing, to kill or to cause serious injury to any person or to bind or imprison him or to engage in the same or to immediately kill or cause serious injury to any person. ¥If you show fear of coming or carry dangerous weapons with you,
(b) If he obtains any amount or financial benefit by showing fear of killing or injuring or taking control of someone immediately or by taking criminal advantage,
(c) using dangerous weapons or threatening to use them or stealing by showing fear, panic, or stealing in a secluded place or forest.
(d) In case of theft by three persons or more than three persons.
(3) A person who commits an offense under sub-section (1) shall be punished as follows:-
(a) In case of offense under clause (a) or (b) of sub-section (2), imprisonment from seven years to fourteen years and fine from seventy thousand to one lakh forty thousand rupees,
(b) Imprisonment for five years to ten years and a fine of fifty thousand to one lakh rupees in case of an offense under clause (c) or (d) of sub-section (2).
